On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, a preventive and educational event dedicated to early diagnosis and management of diabetes was held in Kyiv. The initiative was carried out by specialists from the National Medical University named after O.O. Bohomolets in cooperation with the Association of Evolution of Medicine and with the support of COR-Medical.
The event took place across several locations within the university clinic and gathered over 200 participants — students, university staff, city residents, and visitors. All attendees had the opportunity to measure their blood glucose levels for free, receive consultations from endocrinologists, and get recommendations for disease prevention and management.

Considering that more than 1.3 million people in Ukraine are registered with diabetes, early diagnosis and identification of prediabetes remain extremely relevant. In its early stages, diabetes often develops almost unnoticed — without sudden changes in wellbeing or obvious symptoms. Therefore, regular glucose checks are an important part of taking care of one’s health even in the absence of complaints. Special attention should be paid to individuals with excess body weight, a family history of diabetes, a sedentary lifestyle, high blood pressure, lipid metabolism disorders, as well as women who have experienced gestational diabetes. Early detection of abnormalities allows timely intervention and reduces the risk of complications. For this reason, screenings and educational work are key components of such initiatives.
During the event, participants’ blood sugar levels were measured using different methods: some used traditional glucometers, while others had the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system Sibionics installed. The demonstration showcased the technology’s advantages — how to track glucose levels in real time via a smartphone and observe how the body responds to changes in diet or physical activity.
The initiative was also part of a post-marketing study currently being conducted at the National Medical University named after O.O. Bohomolets. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in patients with prediabetes and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. More details about the study can be found in the article “NMU Specialists Held a Free Event on Diabetes Prevention and Detection”.
It is worth noting that COR-Medical is the official partner and distributor of the Sibionics continuous glucose monitoring system in Ukraine, providing warranty service as well as technical and informational support to users.
