The ACTICOAT™7 dressing (Smith & Nephew) is recommended for use:
ACTICOAT™7 is an effective barrier to bacterial penetration. The barrier function of the dressing can help reduce infection in superficial and deep skin injuries, including bedsores, venous stasis ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and first and second stage burns. ACTICOAT™7 dressings can also be used to treat infected wounds and to cover areas of skin with inserted catheters.
Features of ACTICOAT™7 antimicrobial dressing with silver nanocrystals:
- Viscose/polyester base helps control moisture levels and silver release.
- Silvered high-density polyethylene mesh facilitates the passage of silver through the dressing.
- NUCRYST Pharmaceutical's antimicrobial technology produces silver-coated polyethylene films that can release an effective concentration of silver for several days.

- An effective barrier that can help prevent wound contamination. Laboratory studies show that ACTICOAT™7 dressing kills microorganisms faster than conventional products such as silver sulfadiazine (1% cream) or silver nitrate solution (0.5%).
- It has also been shown to provide in vitro protection against over 150 pathogens. Pathogens tested in the laboratory include very resistant strains of bacteria such as antibiotic resistant strains of Pseudomonas, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin resistant Enterococcus, etc.
- The shape and size of the dressing can be changed by cutting it to suit the part of the body you want.
- Time period of application of the dressing: up to 7 days.
Important!
- ACTICOAT™7 is not compatible with oil-based products such as petrolatum.
- Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements such as EEG and ECG.
- Before an MRI scan, ACTICOAT™7 must be removed from the anatomical field to be examined. If the ACTICOAT™7 is used in any area outside the examination field, it may be left on during the MRI scan.
- Avoid temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.
- Keep away from light.
- Do not use the contents if the package is opened or damaged.
