Resolute Onyx Zotarolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent System
Resolute Onyx™ – is a stent developed by the American company Medtronic to restore the lumen of coronary vessels. Its distinguishing feature is the presence of a medical coating containing zotarolimus, as well as a number of unique characteristics that make the stent ideal for the most complex anatomical cases.
Resolute Onyx Coronary Stent System – used for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.
Resolute Onyx Stent System™from the American company Medtronicconsists of four subsystems:
Resolute Onyx Stent™;
Delivery system;
Biocompatible polymer system;
Medical coverage.
Resolute Onyx Stent System™
Made of a composite material with Platinum iridium marker bands and an external layer of cobalt-chromium alloy. The coronary stent is made of a solid wire bent in the shape of a continuous sinusoid, with adjacent rows soldered together by a laser. This technology extends the stent's range of motion and helps to avoid fractures.
Resolute Onyx™ easily passes through the vascular bed, because the stent strut has a cross-section thickness of 0.0033 ". There are four stent models with varying diameter ranges, a profile size of 0.017" at the top of the delivery system, and compression resistance of 0.30 N/mm.
The suggested sizes of Resolute Onyx™ stents from Medtronic are shown in the table below.

Stent delivery system
Quick replacement delivery system Resolute Onyx™ Exchange (RX) with a 140 cm working catheter length. It is compatible with conductors with a maximum outer diameter of 0.36 mm (0.14 in) and guide catheters with a minimum inner diameter of 1.42 mm (5 Fr or 0.056 ”).
Biocompatible polymer system
Resolute Onyx ™ features a BioLinx biocompatible hydrophilic three-component polymer system. It provides minimal inflammation in the stenting area, promotes rapid and complete endothelial healing while maintaining endothelial function, and reduces the risk of thrombotic complications significantly.
Medical coverage:
The presence of zotarolimus in a coronary stent reduces the likelihood of restenosis. When using the Resolute Onyx™ stent, the dosage of zotarolimus is 1.6 μg per mm2 of stent surface area.
Key benefits of the Medtronic Resolute Onyx™ Stent:
presented in various sizes for optimal selection in complex anatomical conditions (including very small and large diameter vessels);
suitable for use in long stenoses (this significantly increases the possibility of stenting patients with diabetes, diffuse lesions, and left coronary artery trunk stenosis);
the most mobile and flexible due to an innovative design in the shape of a continuous sinusoid;
has a medical covering to aid the stent's adaptation;
the proven safety and efficacy is shown in the Global RESOLUTE Program with over 7,500 patients.

Ischemic heart disease is the most common cardiovascular pathology in Ukraine. This condition typically occurs when the coronary vessels are damaged, causing blood to flow more slowly to the heart muscle. In the absence of proper treatment, the lumen of blood vessels may completely close, resulting in a myocardial infarction.
Coronary stenting is one of the treatments for coronary heart disease. The goal of coronary stent implantation is to restore the patency of the coronary vessels by prosthetics of the arteries of the heart.
It's an almost bloodless operation. Stents are implanted by a puncture in an artery in the arm or leg. The procedure is carried out under the control of an X-ray machine, and the results are displayed on a screen. The installed stent supports the vessel walls and keeps them from narrowing.
In this video, you can see how the stenting procedure works:
A coronary stent is implanted in a patient for life, so it must be of high quality and safe. The Resolute Onyx™ stent is made of safe metal alloys, is extremely flexible, and fits the shape of the vessel perfectly. It does not break when the heart muscle contracts, ensuring even blood flow through the stent area of the artery. The presence of a medical coating allows the stent to take root more effectively and reduces risks to the patient.
