"O2IN" or a new era of lung diseases treatment. Amalyan announced the development of new therapy

COR-Medical team together with doctors is working on the development of an innovative blood oxygenation system called "O2IN". The main purpose of the development of "O2IN" is to reduce the level of death, and to lead to a new level of treatment of patients with impaired lung function. The technology based on direct venous oxygenation of blood. The uniqueness of this system is the possibility of using it even at home. The head of the company "Iridium" Tigran Amalyan shared why the idea arose and what are the perspectives of the project.

"Today, in the treatment of patients with lung dysfunction, we use the technique of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) – the device pumps and saturates the patient's blood with oxygen outside his body. ECMO requires specially trained staff of surgeons, perfusionists, a huge amount of equipment, communications, related specialists. That is, the procedure can be performed only in the intensive care unit, and it is quite expensive. "O2IN" will make it possible to deliver oxygen directly to the body of a patient with pulmonary dysfunction outside the intensive care unit. The procedure will look like hemodialysis – it requires only vein catheterization, which can be done by a nurse, even at home" told Amalyan.

"O2IN" is suitable for the treatment of chronic hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary insufficiency and other lung diseases, Amalyan noted. In fact, we are creating a new technology, a new medical tool!

Each of these diseases is quite common, for example, COPD is now one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality from respiratory diseases in the world. According to WHO statistics, mortality from COPD is growing faster than from other common diseases, except AIDS, and ranks second after lung cancer in the structure of mortality from respiratory diseases. The use of "O2IN" will significantly improve the quality and life expectancy of the patient, added Amalyan.

Today, "O2IN" is being tested in one of the hospitals in Kyiv. If you want your hospital to be among the first users of the innovative technology for the treatment of patients with lung diseases – write us at info@cor-medical.com or call 0800 402400.
